4.9.8.1 Server Hotfix Release Notes

Article summary

On June 20, 2024, Firebase's legacy Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) APIs will be discontinued.
 
This change affects the APIs used to perform PingMe authentications, more specifically for Android mobile devices. This server hotfix version addresses this change containing the recommended updates from Firebase.
 
If PingMe is not an implemented authentication method in your MFA environment, or you are certain that no Android devices are used for PingMe, then this hotfix is not required.

Upgrade Required

This hotfix is only applicable to MFA Server v4.9.8.1. If your MFA server version is behind, you will be required to upgrade first. For questions about the upgrade process, please see our server upgrade information page for more information.

Key Fix

  • This hotfix applies changes for migrating from legacy FCM APIs to the HTTP v1
    API for sending push notifications for Android devices.
  • Contains the 2024-2025 Apple Push Certificate (expires 4/27/2025)

Steps To Install

  1. On a server with 4.9.8.1 MFA Server installed, download the hotfix, and save it to your server.

  2. Unblock the hotfix executable under the right-click > Properties > General tab.

  3. Run the executable as an Administrator.

  4. After the executable is run, the hotfix will be applied.

*No restarts are required.


Steps To Uninstall

  1. Open the “%ProgramData%\RapidIdentity_Server_4.9.8.1_H1_560” folder.

  2. Rename “uninst.txt” to “uninst.bat.”

  3. Run uninst.bat as an administrator.

  4. Delete the “RapidIdentity_Server_4.9.8.1_H1_560” folder.

  5. After deleting the folder, the hotfix will be uninstalled.

*No restarts are required.
